Technical Support

At our Technical Centers, we test adhesive formulations in the laboratory for properties such as heat resistance.

Test specimens are glued onto a fiber cement panel and stored for several days before the test.

A static load is then applied in an oven at a defined temperature. Peel (cm/min) is measured at 90 °C.

Application

We conclude tests according to various standards in our state-of-the-art labs at our site in Burghausen, Germany. WACKER has also developed its own test methods to ensure the highest quality products.

Abrasion Test – Rolling Wheel (as per EN 13982-5)
Before and after the rolling wheel test, the rolled surface is scanned to calculate the abraded volume. Abraded weight can be determined as well.

Self-leveling compounds modified with VINNAPAS® can resist the high load of the wheel because of the improved cohesive strength and durability provided by the polymer
Damage to the non-polymer-modified sample is clearly visible, especially at the points where the wheel is turning.

Interior Skim Coat / Wall Putty

Application

VINNAPAS® polymer binders improve the adhesion, flexibility and workability of skim coat/wall putty, thus providing excellent adhesion to many substrates and creating a smooth, flexible, mechanically stable surface for paints. The result is increased paint adhesion, which enhances the aesthetics of the paint finish.

Additional properties, such as hydrophobicity, can also be provided through VINNAPAS® H grades.

VINNAPAS® improves the flexibility of a skim coat/wall putty.

Sustainability Impact

Depending on the formulation, the addition of VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer powders could have a positive impact on the customer’s carbon footprint, since skim coat/wall putty that has been modified with VINNAPAS® requires less cement than non-polymer-modified, cementitious skim coat/wall putty. Skim coat/wall putty modified with VINNAPAS® improves durability and reduces maintenance. Repainting a wall requires less material and time if the surface consists of skim coat/wall putty modified with VINNAPAS®.

In addition, dispersible polymer powders based on VINNAPAS® vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) have a very low VOC (volatile organic compound) content, which is crucial for indoor air quality.
